Unknown To The Unknown pluck out a proper beaming House charm from the hugely underrated Capracara, backed with a restless Hot City remix. With releases on Soul Jazz and DFA, Capracara has nurtured a small but very tidy catalogue of discoid gems, but ‘Silvia Solar’ is helplessly impassioned with an early ’90s House vibe, all hands-in-the-air flared chords, swinging bassline syncopation and a mint lick of Toms to drive the hips home. Pure party vibes. On a friskier flex, the Hot City remix skips a couple years down the ’90s timeline with scissoring hi-hats and choppy vox for the bubbling crew. Ace.

Silvia Solar was a french actress who had the kind of name that would make a good title for a track. She looked amazing and was in a lot of euro-cinema throughout the 60′s 70′s and 80s

Other lovelies, with beautiful names, from a similar, golden-era of film are:

….Ingrid Pitt

…Barabara Steel

…Soledad Miranda

….Edwidge Fenech

…and let’s not forget the majestic ‘Chelsea Girl’, Mary Woronov, who I am completely in love with :)

Some of my favourite musical moments on celluloid from the sleazy 70′s –

Freakout! From Jess Franco’s ‘Sinner’

Suits you sir! Love this discotheque scene from sleazy, horror fave, ‘Don’t Go Into The House’

10/10 on IMDB! Yep, it’s that good. Collins at his best and Roy Budd too

He used to write songs for Elvis, you know…. From Wes Craven’s all-time classic, composed by David “Piss Your Pants” Hess
